Former Tottenham player refers to Chelsea as the ‘best club in London’
Tottenham academy graduate Noni Madueke has referred to Chelsea as the ‘best club in London’ after completing a move to Stamford Bridge.
Madueke was thought of quite highly while coming through the age group ranks at Spurs but the winger decided to leave his boyhood club for PSV Eindhoven in 2018 in search of regular first-team football.
The decision has proven to be a fruitful one for the 20-year-old, who has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years after establishing himself as a regular in the Eredivisie giants’ starting lineup.
Tottenham reportedly explored the possibility of bringing him back to the club last summer (90 min) but it is Chelsea who have now offered the winger a route back to English football.
It first emerged last week that Graham Potter was keen on signing Madueke (The Daily Mail) and it did not take too long for the West London club to wrap up the transfer, announcing on Saturday that they had struck a deal worth £29m (Sky Sports) for the England Under-21 international.
The Barnett-born forward’s latest comments will not sit well with Spurs fans, with the youngster describing the Blues as London’s best club.
Madueke said (via Fabrizio Romano): “Chelsea is the best club in London, of course. I’m really pleased to join one of the best clubs in the world. To return to England and play in the Premier League is a dream for me.”

Spurs Web Opinion
I am not surprised that Tottenham decided against pushing ahead with a move for Madueke, given the injury-hit season he has endured in Eindhoven so far. I am not convinced that the 20-year-old has made the right career decision by moving to Stamford Bridge as I do not expect Graham Potter to last too much longer in the job.
