RECAP – Warriors Down Smoke Eaters On Saturday Night
On a Saturday night in West Kelowna, the Smoke Eaters created enough chances to win the game, but the Warriors capitalize on theirs and down the Smoke Eaters 5-2.
The Smoke Eaters had to weather a storm in the first period, as the Warriors, needing a response after an 8-2 drumming from the Vees the night before came out hot, at one point even outshooting Trail 16-5. However it took the Warriors 16 shots to finally beat Teagan Kendrick who was stellar in the first period despite allowing two goals. Smith and Warrener both had decent scoring chances from the point. Despite all their chances, Sharun would score with under three to go in the second to send the Warriors to the third with a 3-1 lead.
West Kelowna would get a momentum killer in the third the would put the game out of reach. As Salandra would score his second of the night giving the Warriors a 4-1 lead. Brady Hunter would get on the score sheet just after the halfway mark of the third as Paraons picked off the clearance attempt from Hamming and put the puck on net, where Hunter was waiting to redirect the shot to make it 4-2.
The Warriors would add one Marie to make it 5-2 and seal their first regulation win over the Smoke Eaters this season. The Smoke Eaters now have a Sunday off before heading to Vernon on Monday to take on the Vipers.
