LASG FELICITATES TIFFANY AMBER ON 25TH ANNIVERSARY

The Lagos State Government has applauded Tiffany Amber for its resilience and growth in Nigeria’s fashion industry as it marks its 25th anniversary with a grand runway event at Eko Atlantic City, on Saturday.

In his opening remarks at the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasised the need to create an enabling environment where the private sector can thrive. saying “We must present ourselves and create an ambience that allows businesses, particularly in the creative sector, to flourish, do well, and grow”.
He highlighted that fashion is not only part of the creative industry but also a crucial component of Lagos State’s tourism ecosystem.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated that the Lagos State Government is dedicated to supporting the creative industry, underscoring its role in boosting the state’s economy and cultural influence. “The creative industry is one that the Lagos State Government is firmly committed to, offering our support through policies, choice of appointments, programmes, and, where possible, financial backing to ensure the sector’s growth”, he stated.

He acknowledged the contribution of Folake Akindele-Coker, the founder of Tiffany Amber, who pioneered Nigeria’s first ready-to-wear fashion label when the brand launched in November 1998. The Governor noted that the runway event, one of the longest in recent years, mirrors the brand’s ambition to compete globally, likening it to the prestigious runways of Paris and New York.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Folake Akindele-Coker expressed her excitement and appreciation for the dignitaries and guests present. She thanked all who have supported Tiffany Amber and highlighted the brand’s journey from Lagos to the world stage. 

“Our story has been written with resilience, brilliance, and elegance, and Lagos is where it all began. Lagos is where it will forever remain. Tiffany Amber’s success is proudly Nigerian and deeply connected to its roots”, she said.

Dignitaries in attendance included Ministerial Nominee for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Jumoke Oduwole; Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka; Honourable Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem; and Special Adviser on Climate Change and Circular Economy, Dr. Titilayo Oshodi, alongside other distinguished guests from the fashion and arts industries.
