I was sure my fashion thrift find couldn’t be real – even the authenticator ‘screamed’ when she verified its real value
THE eye-watering value of a handbag bought from a thrift store left one fashionista scared to use it.
She revealed the person who authenticated the item “screamed” in shock that she had found the highly desirable handbag for an affordable price.
Alyssa (@alyssa_labrie) is steadily growing a following on TikTok, where she shares a glimpse into her life as a model.
She went viral on the app after revealing the “greatest” item she’s found at a thrift store.
The style enthusiast said she had been eyeing up items in Versace’s collaboration with Fendi online but everything seemed to be over her budget.
As she browsed the items at a thrift store in Brooklyn, she recognized an eye-catching handbag from the collection.
The Fendace La Medusa medium handbag was originally priced at $3,550 on the Versace website.
A pre-owned version of the bag, which debuted in 2022, is currently being sold on FarFetch for £2,673 [$3,385].
It features gold-toned hardware, a leather trim, and the signature Barocco print.
Despite looking similar to the design sold by the Italian luxury brand, Alyssa confessed she was uncertain if the bag she found at the thrift store was genuine.
She began to “panic” after going ahead with the purchase.
She took it to a professional authenticator who “freaking screamed” after verifying it was real.
The fashionista said the designer item had cost her less than 80% of its original price.
She added that she loves the handbag but is “scared” to use it after discovering its real value.
Over 100,000 viewers liked the video and many took to the comment section shocked by her thrifty buy.
Alyssa didn’t respond to requests from people who wanted to know the name of the store she found the handbag.
“You lived my dream because I loved this collab but I’m broke as heck,” one person said.
“OMG, can I be as lucky as you were,” another commented.
When is the best time to shop at a thrift store?
According to Goodwill, it’s unpredictable when a “huge” shipment of new items will arrive.
Many regulars recommend shopping early on Monday and Tuesday as donations are usually dropped off on the weekend.
Weekdays are also less crowded, so employees will spend time putting out new stock.
“OMG, I can’t believe it that’s awesome I love Fendace but it’s expensive,” a third wrote.
“Now lady, bring that bag everywhere!!!” another added.
Alyssa thrift store find comes after TikToker Allie (@alliesurber91) racked up countless views on a video sharing her discovery.
She had read an article about a Canadian woman who found a vintage Versace dress for $10.
While on her own shopping trip, she spotted a blue dress from the brand priced at just $5.99.
Versace dresses are currently priced from $1,090 on the luxury fashion house’s website.
“Did I seriously just manifest this into existence?” Allie said.
