I’ve used the same Amazon organizing tool for almost 9 years – they’ve come a long way since the ’90s & keep kids neat

ORGANIZING a space with young kids can feel like an impossible feat but Amazon may be able to help.

A home expert has revealed the three items she swears by for keeping her house in order.

Christina Morton DesAuguste, founder of The Organizing Company, shared her favorite organizational products with The U.S. Sun.

With over 10 years of experience in the industry, she established her business to make “organization as beautiful as it is functional.”

“I really believe that life is truly better when things are organized,” the expert said.

DesAuguste has broken down the reasons why you should invest in her three must-haves.

“Organizing product recommendations is challenging because there’s no one-size-fits-all to organizing,” she explained.

“It’s kind of like dressing for your body type, something works great for someone else, but it’s not right for the size and shape of your stuff.

LABEL MAKER

For her first universal recommendation, DesAuguste advised homeowners to invest in a label maker

“Labeling is mostly for telling people – kids, spouses, babysitters – where to put things back,” she said.

“But it’s also helpful in small spaces for those bins that are way up high and you can’t remember what’s in there without a label on the outside.”

DesAuguste suggested storing your lesser-used items up high in your home.

Her go-to label maker is the $40 Brother P-Touch Label Maker, available from Amazon.

“These have come a long way from the embossed versions we knew as kids in the ’90s and early 2000s,” the organizational pro said.

“I like using clear label tape with black print wherever possible instead of the white label tape that can remind you of an old church kitchen or an uptight Airbnb.”

LABEL TAPE

To go hand-in-hand with her label maker, DesAuguste revealed the tape she uses.

For a sleek look, she opts for the $19 Black Print on Clear Tape from Brother.

“I’ve tried other brands and lots of knockoffs that fit my Brother label maker, but only the Brother [tape] comes off cleanly, even after years,” she explained.

“It doesn’t damage real wood or melamine but do be careful with other veneers.

She revealed that she has been using her label maker and tape for “almost nine years.”

THREE-STEP STOOL

For her final product tip, she recommended buying a stepping stool for your home, especially if it’s on the smaller side.

“In small spaces, people will go vertical, so at least make sure it can stay functional by having a step stool handy,” DesAuguste said.

She purchased the $50 Three-Step Ladder Folding Step Stool, which was also from Amazon.

“I like this one because it is skinny and can slide into tight spaces,” she explained.

DesAuguste suggested opting for the size of stool that suits your home best.

“If you have to stand on the countertop, you should just get a taller step stool and stay safer and more sanitary,” she said.

“Remember, if it’s too hard to reach, it won’t get put away properly and will lead to clutter and frustration.”
