I thought £821k lottery win was a mistake before realising 10-second website trick meant I scooped DOUBLE my neighbours
A SUPERSTITIOUS punter has scooped a massive £821,990 lottery win after doubling her fortunes thanks to a 10-second trick.
Sally, from Oxfordshire, thought the People’s Postcode Lottery made a mistake as she checked the website.
The school cook pencilled in a £30,000 win before presenter Danyl Johnson pulled out a £410,995 cheque.
The mum of two then watched on in shock as another gold envelope was revealed with a second cheque of the same value – doubling the prize.
Sally thought it was a mistake.
She said: “When the first cheque came out, I thought that was the total of what I’d won.
“I couldn’t believe it when I got another cheque. I thought he had made a mistake.”
Sally says she dreamt about winning a windfall in the People’s Postcode Lottery two years ago.
She has since made sure to have two tickets in the race.
The Shiplake woman recounted her premonition: “It was a white van with the Postcode Lottery logo on it sitting at the bottom of the drive at the gate. I saw £30,000 written on a card.
“It’s been near enough in the back of my mind every day since. I’ve thought about it most weeks.”
Sally says husband Murray teased her about it, but she continued to follow her instincts.
“I told Murray about it before. Even a week ago today, he asked if I’d won £10 that week. I said, ‘No, but it is coming’. Sometimes I just get these feelings.
“I put on another ticket after the dream. I nearly cancelled it altogether at one point, but people just need to go with their feelings.
“I kept saying to everyone, ‘My win is coming’. Now here you are, but I never dreamed of anything like this.”
Sally was the sole winner of her postcode with the Millionaire Street prize going to RG9 4BX .
The remaining prize pot was shared between residents in the broader RG9 region.
Now Sally has set her sights on buying a quaint cottage for retirement with her husband when he calls time on his tractor driving career.
I kept saying to everyone, ‘My win is coming’. Now here you are, but I never dreamed of anything like this.

She said: “That’s my dream: a little cottage somewhere. It might be that we can buy a house in Shiplake now and stay in the village, which we never thought we could do.
“My husband has worked so hard for us and never asked for anything back. He’s my rock. Now I can give him something back.”
Sally eventually hopes to take off on a world cruise, too – and joked Murray wouldn’t be invited.
“I’ll go on holiday and send my doubting husband a postcard because he said I was never going to win anything. He can stay and look after the dog.”
But first Sally wants to support her son James, a boat skipper, her daughter Laura and grandson Joe.
She also wants to prioritise plotting her retirement, with spine and shoulder issues now hampering her at work.
Daughter Laura said: “My parents are the most hard-working mum and dad ever. This couldn’t have gone to better people. They’ve done so much for me and my son. They deserve it, it is just incredible.”
How does the People's Postcode Lottery work?
ACCORDING to the official website, players sign up with their postcode and pay £12 per month.
They are automatically entered into every draw and prizes are announced every day of the month.
Tickets play for prizes every day of the week – from Monday to Sunday, a ticket could win £1,000 each day in the Daily Prize.
Tickets could also win a jackpot of £30,000 in Saturday and Sunday’s Street Prize draws.
People’s Postcode Lottery also offer a £3 Million Postcode Millions draw each month – and your ticket plays for a share of a £3 Million cash prize fund.
Winners are notified by email, SMS message, mail or phonecall depending on the prize they win.
Jackpot winners are visited by the lottery team in person.
