Brahim Diaz doesn’t think about Madrid return and ‘won’t forget’ goal against Liverpool

Milan starlet Brahim Diaz doesn’t think about a potential return to Real Madrid and insists the Rossoneri can win the Serie A title this season.

The Spaniard returned to Milan on a two-year loan from Real Madrid in the summer. He had already spent one season with the Rossoneri, scoring seven goals in 39 appearances with the club.

“Milan are a great team, I felt the affection of the club and the fans. I had a good time last year and now I am also super happy to be here,” the 22-year-old told AS.

Brahim had a great start to the season with four goals in seven appearances across all competitions.

The Spaniard could return to Madrid in less than two years and, over the summer, Ancelotti said that he was a ‘very important player’ for the Merengues.

However, Brahim is only focused on his time with the Rossoneri at the moment.

“I don’t think about that [Real Madrid return], really,” he said.

“I enjoy the present and I am pleased [to be here].I want to continue helping Milan with goals, assists and above all, a lot of work.

“I am very grateful to him [Ancelotti], but right now I am focused on Milan.”

The Rossoneri collected five wins and a draw against Juventus in their opening six games of the season, so they are just two points off table leaders Napoli.

Brahim believes the Rossoneri can win the Scudetto this season.

“Yes, it is going to be an even fight, with many teams involved. I think we are doing very well. We focus on one game at a time, but we have a team with talent and an environment that perfectly mixes young and experienced players,” he said.

“We will fight to the end.”

The Rossoneri returned to Champions League for the first time in seven years, but lost the opening game of their European campaign away at Liverpool.

Tomorrow, they host Atletico Madrid at the Stadio Meazza.

“They have talent, but they are also well organised and willing to sacrifice,” Brahim said.

“They have excellent players, I don’t choose one because it would be unfair. Also, I prefer to focus on Milan. We are also great and we are more united than ever.”

Brahim also revealed his favourite goals in a Rossoneri shirt and discussed how he is adapting to play as a Trequartista.

“I adapt to everything, but it is true that I feel very comfortable behind a striker. I like the use of space, playing between the lines and receiving a lot of balls there.

“Scoring at Anfield it’s something I will never forget,  but the goal I also like the goal I scored against Juve last season.”
