Russian pensioners warned of upcoming income verification
Associate Professor of the Basic Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia “Development of Human Capital” of the PRUE G.V. Plekhanova Lyudmila Ivanova-Shvets warned pensioners about the upcoming income verification in 2021. The agency “Prime” writes about it.
The expert said that the Audit Chamber, based on the results of the audit, revealed violations both in the direction of illegal overpayments and underpayment of pensions. Therefore, now a check will be carried out for the correctness of pension payments.
First of all, the presence of additional income will be checked in order to exclude the receipt of various allowances and supplements to the pension. They will be carried out by the Federal Tax Service, the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation or social security authorities. Secondly, the place of residence of pensioners receiving pensions in the northern regions or by proxy through another person will be checked; they will need to independently apply to the Pension Fund to confirm the data. In addition, the checks will also affect pensioners living abroad. They must check in once a year at the Russian consulate.
“As a result of inspections, there will certainly be those who will be entitled to additional money and those who will have to return illegally received money to the fund, but after that there will be fewer claims and applications for pension payments,” Ivanova-Shvets explained.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian authorities in 2021 plan to index pensions for non-working pensioners by 6.3 percent, which is almost one and a half times higher than inflation. Thus, the average pension will increase by one thousand rubles. In addition, monthly cash payments to war veterans and disabled people of all categories will be indexed. They will be increased from February 1 next year – the size of indexation will be determined based on the consumer price index for the previous year. To date, it is 3.8 percent.
