Sables d'Or Les Pins

Hello,

I'm not Russian, so I'll speak to you in English.

Let me introduce you to a corner of France where I often spend my summer holidays: Sables d'Or Les Pins.

It's in the Bretagne region; you can look it up on a map of France. Its history (thanks, Wikipedia):

Although traces of ancient occupation (a Gallo-Roman villa) have been found, the site remained unoccupied until the 1920s.

In 1921, developers, including Roland Brouard, purchased just under 100 hectares of land, primarily dunes, from the Count of Couville near the Grève de Minieu beach, with the aim of building a luxury seaside resort. Major works were quickly undertaken: leveling of the dunes, creation of wide avenues, etc. The overall plan for the resort, original for its time, was designed by the Treyve-Frères firm, landscape architects in Vichy. This plan shares some similarities with the Vichy spa resort and with Le Vésinet, designed by the landscape architect Paul de Lavenne de Choulot. The architect Yves Hémar also contributed to the resort's development. He had been chosen by the developer Brouard for his desire to "appeal to the English" by developing an Anglo-Breton style likely to suit them. Yves Hémar designed the hotels, restaurants and shops there, as well as most of the villas.

The Yffiniac-Matignon railway line was built, connecting with the Paris-Brest line and inaugurated in February 1924 (it was abandoned in 1950, but the Port-Nieux viaduct spanning the Islet River still remains today). In June of the same year, the resort's first hotel-restaurant, the "Camping House," was completed. The following year, a golf course opened, followed in 1927 by a casino. Several luxury villas were built, and the resort became frequented by a wealthy clientele, Parisian financiers and industrialists, and lavish parties were held there.

However, with the 1929 crisis, the resort's development came to an abrupt halt and its wealthy clientele deserted the place. Roland Brouard died penniless in 1934.

After the Second World War, the resort's development resumed in a more controlled manner, leading to its current status as a family-oriented resort, lively only during the summer months.

In 2006, major redevelopment work began, including narrowing the streets, constructing grassed parking areas, protecting the dune in front of the beach, and planting 7,500 pine trees. The "new" resort was inaugurated on July 13 and 14, 2007.

If you want to come to France, avoid Paris, which has become a garbage dump where you get attacked on every street corner. Come to Bretagne for a summer. The sea, the sun (not always), and the tranquility of a seaside town not yet corrupted by the madness of this world.
