Names & Faces: Willie Taggart, Jonathan Klinsmann
Willie Taggart
The new Florida State head coach apologized to Oregon athletic director Rod Mullens for resigning as the Ducks’ head coach after one season. But, you see, he is a Florida native who grew up a Seminoles fan. “I know I let him down and I’m sorry. The timing was probably not right but it is never right,” Taggart said at his introductory news conference in Tallahassee. “This one chance was perfect. To be closer to family and coach in a Power 5 (conference) and an opportunity to win a national championship are personal goals.” Taggart, 41, turned around the Ducks, who went 7-5 one year after finishing at 4-8. He replaces Jimbo Fisher, who left for Texas A&M.
