Tristan Thompson and Isaiah Thomas take part in scrimmage

Both of the Cavs’ missing starters took part in scrimmage Wednesday

The Cleveland Cavaliers received some great news on Wednesday, as both Isaiah Thomas and Tristan Thompson took part in a 4-on-4 scrimmage in practice. This marks a significant milestone in the recovery of both players, as this is their first real taste of contact in practice. While this is a positive sign, it doesn’t necessarily guarantee an immediate return for the duo.

As LeBron James pointed out, how they both feel the next day is the most important test, per cleveland.com:

"At the end of the day it's all about the next day," LeBron James said Wednesday, while Thomas and Thompson were playing at Cleveland Clinic Courts. "When they say they feel good the next day after a workout session, that's great to know."

While Thompson is expected back by the end of the week, assuming there are no setbacks, there still is no official timetable for Thomas. The team has been very cautious with their approach with Thomas, and seem to be supportive of his efforts to find his rhythm and get comfortable before joining the lineup.

The Cavs have been playing great basketball through a very soft portion of their schedule, which has afforded them the luxury of being patient with both players. But with marquee games in the near future, it would nice to get both back and acclimated while the schedule is still favorable.
