[Competitive Dance] Grand View Dance Claims First Place in NAIA Jazz at State Dance Competition
Des Moines, Iowa – | Full Results | The Grand View dance team claimed first place in NAIA Jazz at the 2018 Iowa State Dance Team Championships @ Wells Fargo Arena hosted by Iowa State Dance Team Association (ISDTA). Twenty-six Iowa college teams competed during the 2-dayfor state championship top honors. The Vikings also took second place in Pom and third in Hip Hop.
"I cannot begin to express the level of pride I have for this team," expressed head coach Stacie Horton. "They had an intense week of early morning and late night practice preparing for this competition. When they took the floor for each routine it was go time! They had their game faces on. This group of ladies is extremely competitive but very humble in their talent. I know they were exhausted but they pulled it off and a big way and never wavered on their positive attitudes and support for one another."
Grand View claimed the number one spot for jazz with a score of 270.5 out of six teams. The Vikings have not finished first in jazz since 2013. St. Ambrose took second place with a score of 264.5 with Morningside, Graceland, Clarke University and Dordt College rounding out the field.
Falling three and a half points short if first, the Vikings took second place in NAIA Pom with 266 points behind St. Ambrose University. Morningside came in third with Graceland and Northwestern College rounding out the top five.
Just half a point from tying for second, Grand View took third in NAIA Hip Hop out of six teams. The Vikings scored 268 right behind Morningside with 268.5 points.
