Vote For Your Reading FC November 2017 Player Of The Month

Two wins, two draws and a loss in an impressive month, but which player stood out for you?

It’s time again to vote for who you thought stood out the most over the past month of football. We’ve cut it down to a shortlist of four players who impressed for Reading in the five league outings of November. That’s away trips to Derby County and Bolton Wanderers, together with home matches against Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley.

In alphabetical order...

Leandro Bacuna

Average rating: 6 (5 appearances); Man of the Match appearances: 3rd (Bolton away), 3rd (Barnsley home).

Former Villa man Bacuna came out on top in the October vote, thanks to a mighty 66% of the vote. However, whilst still looking steady at full back and in centre midfield, he’s not quite hit the heights he previously did.

Modou Barrow

Average rating: 6.6 (5 appearances); Man of the Match appearances: 3rd (Derby away), 1st (Wolves home), 2nd (Bolton away), 3rd (Sheffield Wednesday home), 2nd (Barnsley home).

The only player to get into the top three for MOTM votes in all five games, Modou Barrow dazzled the crowds down the left wing. The Gambian international is now Reading’s top scorer (although his last two against Sunderland came in December, so don’t count), and has steadily grown into Jaap Stam’s side.

Liam Moore

Average rating: 6.4 (5 appearances); Man of the Match appearances: 2nd (Derby away), 1st (Bolton away).

September’s winner has enjoyed a similarly fine November, impressing with some solid performances at the back. Goals at Derby and Bolton pushed his tally for the season up to three in the league, meaning that he was joint top in the squad when the month ended.

Joey van den Berg

Average rating: 6.3 (3 appearances); Man of the Match appearances: 1st (Sheffield Wednesday home), 1st (Barnsley home).

Last but not least is Joey van den Berg, who has enjoyed something of a revival in form of late. Helped by a general lack of central midfielders - especially with Bacuna having to fill in at right back - the Dutchman very much made the holding role his own in November. He didn’t appear in the trips to Bolton and Derby, but finished the month in style by thwacking one in from around 30 yards at home to Barnsley.
