UCF campus police investigate weapons threat
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — University of Central Florida police say they're investigating a weapons threat at the school's main campus.
UCF police announced on Twitter that they had received a call Tuesday evening from a man claiming to have weapons and making additional threats. Officers canvassed the area, while investigators attempted to maintain contact with the man, who officials say sounded like he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The police statement says investigators don't believe the threat is credible, but officers will maintain a heavy presence on campus over the next few days. The fall semester ended Saturday.
The campus was never officially placed on lockdown.
