Steve Kerr, Charles Barkley respond to Alabama Senate race

Kerr did it with the Zen-like simplicity he has become known for, while Barkley stuck to his usual, hard-hitting methods.

Last night, Golden State Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr expressed approval over the outcome of the contentious Alabama Senate race.

Showing that he’s a serious sports guy through and through, Kerr tweeted a slogan common with fans of the University of Alabama sports teams, especially the Crimson Tide football squad.

To anyone even marginally paying attention, Kerr’s comments should come as a surprise to nobody. In recent years, he has become increasingly outspoken about politics and social-justice issues.

Charles Barkley — former NBA player, current TV analyst, and proud Alabaman — is known for his outspokenness on a variety of topics, and last night was no different.

After Doug Jones (D) pulled off the upset victory, Barkley called Jones’s rival — Roy Moore (R) — “an embarrassment.”

Where Kerr is fine to say more with less, Barkley is just the opposite — especially on matters concerning his beloved Alabama.

“Hey, listen,” Barkley said. “If any other man had eight women accusing him of sexual harassment, talking about how he really enjoys slavery, he thinks homosexuals should go to jail, they wouldn’t have been in this election.”

He also called on the Democratic party to view Jones’s victory as a wake-up call, that the party can no longer take for granted the votes of African Americans and the poor.
