London (dpa) - Police have arrested a fifth man suspected of planning terrorism following a raid in the northern English city of Sheffield late Friday.Officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North East said they detained the 21-year-old man in Sheffield‘s Fir Vale area "on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism."The arrest was intelligence-led and officers were continuing to search a residential address and a business address in Sheffield, the force said.Two of the four men arrested earlier appeared at London‘s Westminster Magistrates‘ Court on Friday to answer terrorism charges, including possession of gunpowder.Farhad Salah, 22, and Andi Sami Star, 31, are both of Kurdish Iraqi origin, according to The Independent and other British media.Star‘s lawyer told the court his client denied any involvement in terrorism, the newspaper reported.A 36-year-old man remains in custody while the fifth suspect, a 41-year-old man from Sheffield, was released without charge last week.Deputy Chief Constable Mark Roberts of South Yorkshire Police, which covers Sheffield, said his officers would continue to work closely with counter-terrorism police "to keep our communities safe and identify threat and risk.""Our main priority is public safety and protecting the people of South Yorkshire," Roberts said.The head of security service MI5 warned in October that Britain is facing its most severe threat ever from terrorism after a "dramatic upshift" in activity this year, including attacks in London and Manchester.
