Team Trendy: 49ers will have to ignore the hype
The 49ers have entered their offseason with a franchise quarterback, a five-game winning streak and a belief that plenty more wins are on the horizon in 2018.
“I know,” said safety Eric Reid on Sunday, “we’re a playoff-caliber team.”
Said left tackle Joe Staley to reporters on Monday: “I don’t think there's a team right now that would want to see us in the playoffs.”
The 49ers finished the season as the rare six-win team with swagger. But as they begin an offseason in which they will be widely hailed as a 2018 playoff pick, one offseason challenge is clear: Don’t believe the hype.
