Baker Mayfield's behind-the-back pass in Rose Bowl pregame was better than some QBs' normal passes
This is so impressive.
When’s the last time you threw something behind your back? Maybe you did it to try and impress someone or just to see what would happen. It probably didn’t go well. You’re not used to just flipping a ball behind your back with actual mechanics.
That’s because you aren’t Baker Mayfield.
While running through some drills before the Rose Bowl, Mayfield fires a pass behind his back as cool as you like. Accounting for the depth of the end zone, that’s about a 15-yard pass on a line by Mayfield behind his back. The staffer chucking him the ball doesn’t even have to make an adjustment to make the catch. Mayfield was repping a passing route of this trick play that resulted in him catching a TD pass.
You may have heard, but Mayfield’s been sick in the lead-up to this game. His flu-like symptoms sidelined him from almost all of the non-football activities besides his surprise showing at media days. He alluded to not being 100 percent, but seeing that pregame proves he was ready to rock.
