Some of Hollywood's most powerful women launch anti-harassment project

More than 300 women in Hollywood, including Reese Witherspoon, Shonda Rhimes, Emma Stone, and Eva Longoria, have launched an initiative called Time's Up, a "unified call for change from women in entertainment for women everywhere."

They announced the project Monday in a full-page New York Times advertisement, and their goals include fighting non-disclosure agreements that protect sexual abusers and helping women who are victims of sexual misconduct but cannot afford to hire lawyers. The idea came about in October during meetings female talent agents held in Los Angeles as more and more women began coming forward with allegations of sexual assault and harassment against producer Harvey Weinstein.

Time's Up has raised $13 million for a legal defense operation that will be administered by the National Women's Law Center's Legal Network for Gender Equity, with donors including Steven Spielberg and Meryl Streep. "We're finally hearing each other, and seeing each other, and now locking arms in solidarity with each other, and in solidarity for every woman who doesn't feel seen, to be finally heard," Witherspoon told the Times.
