These guys hiked 3,100 miles and filmed a single second every day
The Continental Divide Trail is one of the most grueling hikes you could ever imagine, and watching it in one-second blocks shot over the course of months is an absolute delight:
I don’t blame you if you haven’t heard of the trail before, because I hadn’t either. It runs from the Mexico border all the way to the Canadian border — stretching 3,100 miles through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. Hikers typically attempt the trail starting in April, aiming to end before October to avoid extreme weather as much as possible.
Normally it takes between four and five months to complete the trail, meaning hikers average over 20 miles a day for around 150 days straight. 2018 goals? Not for me. I could never do it, but living vicariously through this video is perfect.
Stitching together time lapse videos like this isn’t necessarily new, but when set to the music it’s so beautiful. It’s also not often you can see so many sights in a four-minute video and really get a feeling for what it’s like on the trail.
Simply incredible.
