Michele Bachmann is considering running for Al Franken's Senate seat

Former Minnesota lawmaker Michele Bachmann is reportedly considering a run for Sen. Al Franken's (D) Senate seat after he resigned last year following allegations of sexual misconduct. Bachmann, a Tea Party supporter who ran a doomed campaign for president in 2012 and believes the Disney film Aladdin endorses witchcraft, told Pastors Jim and Lori Bakker on The Jim Bakker Show last week that "the question is, should it be me, should it be now?"

Bachmann floated the possibility after Jim Bakker commented on "the pattern in the political system, the pattern is destroy a man with gossip." Bachmann sympathized, saying: "I've lived it. I've lived it … when I ran for president. Every time, I was Nancy Pelosi's top target to defeat four cycles in a row."

Franken's seat will be up for grabs in a November 2018 special election; it is currently filled by Tina Smith, who was appointed by Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton (D). "The only reason I would run is for the ability to take these principles into the United States Senate," Bachmann said, adding: "But there's also a price you pay. And the price is bigger than ever because the swamp is so toxic."

Bachmann, who once likened the Mall of America to Iraq, added that she and her husband "are just normal people. We're not money people. If you're a billionaire, you can maybe defend yourself ...
