The U.S. Department of Justice just determined, on behalf of the EPA, that District Judge Carr cannot order a total maximum daily load cleanup program on Lake Erie (July 24, “U.S. EPA accused of procedural ‘sleight-of-hand’ over western Lake Erie algae cleanup strategy”). This decision is another case where the actions (or lack thereof) by the current federal administration do not protect the Great Lakes.
