Jonathan Lucroy provides big blast to help A’s beat Twins
MINNEAPOLIS - When the A’s dropped the first game of the series here Thursday, Jonathan Lucroy boldly stated the team would come back out and “take it out on whoever’s pitching” for the Twins.
Lucroy held up his end, with three hits in Oakland’s win Friday, and the bulk of the team’s RBIs Saturday, including a three-run homer that sent the A’s to a 6-2 victory, ensuring the team of another unbeaten series. Oakland has dropped only one of its past 20 series.
Mike Fiers turned in his fourth strong start, allowing one run in 5 2/3 innings; he has not given up more than two runs in an outing since the A’s acquired him from Detroit on Aug. 6.
