Chris Bassitt to start for A’s Sunday; rest of rotation gets some rest
MINNEAPOLIS — With the A’s in the midst of 20 consecutive games without a day off, the team will call right-hander Chris Bassitt up from Triple-A Nashville to start against the Twins on Sunday.
The rest of Oakland’s rotation will be pushed back a day, so Brett Anderson will start Monday’s game at Houston, the opener of a key series against the Astros. Anderson has allowed only two earned runs in his past four starts.
Manager Bob Melvin said the move was made with an eye toward getting the rotation some rest, rather than for matchup reasons.
“It’s more just a matter of rest,” Melvin said.
