[Men's Soccer] WVU Tech Eludes Men's Soccer by PK's
DAYTON, Tenn. – It was a disappointing ending for the Bryan College men's soccer team in their season-opener Saturday afternoon, but the visiting Golden Bears of West Virginia University Institute of Technology caught a break when the Lions had a player given a red card in the 44th-minute, forcing them to play down a man over half of the game, as well as, both of WVU Tech's goals were as a result of penalty kicks. The first came during the scenario of the red card, leveling the score 1-1 heading into halftime, while the second occurred during the 94th-minute in the first overtime period that sealed the 2-1 victory for the Golden Bears via golden goal. Despite being outnumbered on the pitch, the Lions showed tremendous effort by silencing the Golden Bears throughout the entire second period. The loss put Bryan at 0-1 to begin the season, and WVU Tech was able to improve to 2-0.
