[Women's Soccer] Vikings Shut Out Eagles, 2-0
Des Moines, IA – Grand View women's soccer (1-2) recorded their first win on the early season Friday night after defeating the Eagles of Judson University 2-0 at Cownie Complex.
The Vikings came out attacking, outshooting the Eagles 8-2 in the first half. Grand View attacked the goal but was unable to find the back of the net, entering halftime 0-0.
Grand View took a 1-0 lead in the 75th minute of play as Alyssa Parker (SO/Ankeny, IA) placed a free kick from the top of the box in the upper ninety. Ashlyn Williams (FR/West Des Moines, IA) scored her first goal as a Viking just minutes later off a cross from Katin Trowbridge (SR/Long Beach, CA).
Junior goalkeeper Celenka Hommel (JR/Nieuw-Vossemeer, Netherlands) earned her first shutout of the season. The Viking defense did not allow a single shot on goal from the Eagles.
Haley Waseskuk (SO/West Des Moines, IA) recorded four shots for the Vikings along with teammates Jennifer Beall (SR/Des Moines, IA) and Mariah Deppe (JR/Grinnell, IA) chipping in two each and Williams tallying three shots on goal.

Grand View will host Bellevue University Friday, August 31, at Cownie Complex with a 7 p.m. start time. Bellevue is currently receiving votes in the national rankings and currently are 0-1 after dropping their first game of the season to No. 24 John Brown.
