Italy: Migrants allowed to disembark from Diciotti
All remaining migrants were allowed to disembark from the Diciotti rescue ship in Catania on Sunday, ending the five-day dispute.
Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini was refusing to accept to most of them until Italy received guarantees from other EU countries that migrants would be distributed across the continent.
It has been reported that the majority of migrants will be taken in by the Catholic Church in the alpine town of Pinzolo. Albania, a non-EU member, and Ireland are also expected to share the burden.
