Top Senate Republican Says GOP Didn’t Give FBI ‘Any List’ For Kavanaugh Probe

Sen. Cornyn, the No. 2 Senate Republican and a member of the Judiciary Committee, denied that the Senate had provided a list restricting who the FBI could interview as part of its probe in to sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“We didn’t give them any list,” Cornyn told reporters in the Capitol Monday, adding that the agreement was for “current” and “credible” allegations. The Senate, in making the request Friday that the White House order an FBI investigation into the claims, also put a one-week time limit on the investigation. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said from the Senate Floor Monday afternoon that the Senate would be “voting this week” on the Kavanaugh confirmation.

Over the weekend, there were competing reports about limits allegedly placed on the investigation that restricted who the FBI could interview. There were also contradictory reports as to who requested the limits on interviewees.

Asked if the FBI was keeping the Senate appraised of the individuals it was talking to, Cornyn said, “Not me.”
