2019: Ayo Arise withdraws from Ekiti north senatorial race, accuses Fayemi of disrupting primary election
Senator Ayo Arise has withdrawn from Ekiti north senatorial race.
The Senator made the announcement on Tuesday, October 2, while speaking to select journalists in his residence.
Senator Arise was running under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent the people of Ekiti north at the Senate before his sudden decision.
He condemned the sudden change of mode of the contest from direct to indirect primaries, pointing accusing fingers the governor-elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

He alleged that Fayemi influenced the process to favour anointed candidates.
Arise, 62, was elected to represent the senatorial district in 2007 and was appointed as the chairman Senate committee on privatization.
He was also a member of other committees including local and foreign debts, water, banking, insurance and other financial institutions.
He was, however, thrown out of the upper chamber in July 2009 after a court upheld the verdict of the Ekiti state election petitions tribunal, which voided his election after a petition had been filed by his then opponent.

Meanwhile, Senator Andy Uba has concluded a tour of the seven local governments that constitute the Anambra south senatorial district, as he seeks to return to the Senate.
The APC senator used the tour to interface with party delegates and his constituents on his performance in the upper chamber so far.
He also used the opportunity to settle all warring APC factions in the senatorial zone to ensure a united front in preparation for the polls.
