Badla Box Office Day 9: Amitabh Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu Film is a Hit, Earns Rs 48.65 cr
Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Badla has emerged as a hit at the Box Office. The latest gross earnings of the film nears Rs 60 crore while the total net collection of the film stands at Rs 48.65 crore so far. Badla is going strong at the Box Office and is expected to perform slowly but significantly even after the release of Akshay Kumar’s Kesari, which hit the screens in the coming week, on March 22.
As per a tweet by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Badla has minted Rs 6.60 crore on its second Friday, which is absolutely not bad considering it’s not a massy film and has benefitted strongly from the good word-of-mouth. Adarsh took to Twitter to share the Box Office breakup of the Sujoy Ghosh‘s directorial and wrote, “#Badla is a HIT… Witnesses solid growth on [second] Sat… Will cross ₹ 50 cr today [Sun]… Superb trending… Will score even after #Kesari release… Has potential to cross ₹ 75 cr… [Week 2] Fri 4.05 cr, Sat 6.60 cr. The film is a remake of Spanish film titled The Invisible Guest. It’s a suspense film that brings Big B and Taapsee on-screen together after their highly successful film Pink, that released in the year 2016.
Recently, while talking about the process he follows while performing characters on-screen, Bachchan said that he is dependent on his writers and directors. Speaking on Badla, he said thrillers have always been appealing and he has been hooked to some of the popular thriller films Hindi cinema has produced in the past. He told IANS, “I have no craft and no idea of what the others do in what they do so brilliantly .. I have followed as diligently as possible the written words of the writer and the direction given to me by the directors! For Black, we learnt the sign language!”
Big B added, “Badla is a different genre, a thriller which for years now has hooked us, for someone of my generation, Mahal remains embedded in memory recesses since it was a cult film from 1949 starring Ashok Kumar and Madhubala with seminal music. They have been part and parcel of Hindi cinema’s strong fabric. Obviously, Alfred Hitchcock was the master of this genre. Thrillers are an integral part of the history of universal cinema.”
