London stabbing victim is cousin of GMB presenter who made plea to stop knife crime

The latest London stabbing victim has been revealed as the cousin of Good Morning Britain’s weatherman Alex Beresford, leaving him in a ‘state of shock’.

It was only 11 days ago that the presenter had spoken passionately about the UK’s growing knife crime epidemic before his cousin Nathan Armstrong, 29, was killed in the early hours of Saturday.

He was stabbed to death on the same street where Crimewatch host Jill Dando was fatally shot in 1999.

CCTV captured the moment Nathan, who was nicknamed ‘BFG’ because of his 6ft 7in frame, arguing with two men in the middle of Gowan Avenue, Fulham.

A source told The Sun: He’s in a state of shock.

‘It’s so tragic, especially when you think he spoke out about the knife crime problem so recently.’

The 38-year-old weather man had hit headlines on March 5 after he spoke up on the ITV breakfast show during a panel debate on whether or not there should be more jails in the UK.

He said: ‘Prison doesn’t work though. It does not work.

‘I’ve grown up in some of these communities you guys are talking about. Some of these boys don’t fear prison.

‘If we don’t change the environment we won’t change anything. This has been happening for years, years, and it’s not always in the media.’

He added: ‘All of you guys have benefited from the environment you’ve grown up in, this work environment, I’ve benefited from it too.

‘But if you don’t show these boys a different environment you won’t change anything.’

Nathan’s murder is the 26^th in the capital this year.

He was found by passers-by lying in a pool of blood at 12.30am.

Paramedics were called but were unable to save him.

Nathan’s distraught dad Michael Armstrong has offered a cash reward for information.

Speaking outside his home, he said: ‘I’ll give £20,000 to anyone who brings my son’s killer to me.’
