McCabe’s wife had received a sizable amount of money from a Clinton ally. Strzok was on Mueller’s team until he had to be removed because of his shenanigans. Dozens attended a candlelight vigil Tuesday night to remember three people whose bodies were recovered from a house fire in northeast Kansas City, Kan., earlier in the day. Police did not identify the victims but family members of 53-year-old Gwinn Green said they believed she was one of them. Firefighters arrived at the house at Troup Avenue and North Mill Street around 3:20 a.m. to find it fully engulfed in flames. Police are investigating the deaths as potential homicides. In a stunning upset, Democrat Doug Jones defeated Republican Roy Moore in Alabama’s Senate special election Tuesday.

With 89 percent of the votes counted, the Associated Press declared Jones the winner.

Jones, a former U.S. attorney who prosecuted Ku Klux Klan members for an infamous 1963 church bombing in Birmingham, will be the first Democrat to represent Alabama in the Senate in 20 years. He fills the seat left vacant by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Читать дальше...

Working on assumption that 93 points is roughly where the playoff bubble sits at the end of the season, the Sabres needed 33 of 44 available points to have a reasonable shot at the playoffs. Starting out the year, there are 164 points available minus 94 points (I'm moving the bubble up a point) == 70 points that can be lost before making the playoffs becomes rather unlikely. The easy thing for Republicans to tell themselves after the stinging loss of a Senate seat in Alabama is that they only went down to defeat because the party had the misfortune to nominate someone accused of preying on teenage girls.
