Man Utd deny Paul Pogba is asking for £600k a week at Old Trafford as they get set to face Newcastle
MANCHESTER UNITED have denied Paul Pogba is demanding an incredible £600,000-a-week to stay at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman, 26, has been injured in recent weeks and missed their dismal 0-0 draw against AZ Alkmaar.
And the club have responded irately to reports he and agent Mino Raiola are looking to double his wages.
The World Cup-winning midfielder is eager to join Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid and remains a doubt for the Red Devils’ trip to Newcastle.
A source told the Mail: “Paul still has two years lef ton his current deal with an option of an extra year so there’s been to talks about a new contract and nothing from Paul saying he wants to increase his wages.
“He’s fully focused on getting 100 per cent fit again and helping the team.
“Anyone that says he’s been asking for £600,000-a-week is wrong and it’s a surprise to us when someone in the game like Karren Brady refers to it.
West Ham vice chairwoman Brady referred to wage reports from Italy in her exclusive SunSport column, claiming Pogba wants the huge sum to sign a new deal.
Some feel Pogba has been unfairly scapegoated at United, while others, like Roy Keane, believe he needs to step up his game to win over the fans.
Meanwhile boss Solskjaer has urged the Glazers not to pull the trigger on his time at United.
The Norwegian, 46, has won three games this season and one on penalties against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup.
United face Newcastle today with the club currently 11th, and 13 points behind leaders Liverpool, albeit with a game in hand.
According to the Mirror, executive vice chairman Ed Woodward and the club’s American owners have already marked a “tipping point” at which Solskjaer would be sacked.

But the hero striker of the 1999 Treble is adamant he can get United out of their tough spell, after the club’s worst start to a top flight season for 30 years.
Solskjaer said: “I’ve been part of teams that haven’t started the season as well as hoped. It’s not nice, even if it’s only October.
“But it’s going to turn round.”
Solskjaer points out that United have won two more points than in last season’s corresponding fixtures.
He also says his side have had some bad refereeing decisions.

He added: “Arsenal, when you don’t get a penalty, against AZ if you don’t get a penalty. But it’ll turn.”
Even today’s opposing manager Steve Bruce has sympathy for Solskjaer.
The Newcastle boss said: “He has got to be given time to implement what he wants to implement.”
