Woman holding gun and baby ‘threatens to blow up church during service’

Horrifying images show a woman holding a baby and a gun as she allegedly threatened to ‘blow up’ a church.

Anna Conkey, 31, allegedly emailed a bomb threat before showing up at the church where she brandished a gun on Easter Sunday this year.

Footage from the church shows Pastor Ben Wisen, who was conducting the service, stand in front of her as he tries to calm things down.

‘I want all you guys to just get down and pray,’ he said according to NBC4, ‘ just get down and pray.’

He told ushers to help take people outside.

During a preliminary trial on Friday, Wisen told the court: ‘She said you don’t know what it means to be willing to die.

‘She had a baby and a gun and we had a pretty good feeling that she was going to get shot and maybe some of our people were going to get shot.’

He described how he tried to make Conkey put down the gun, pretending that he thought it was a Taser.

According to NBC San Diego, Conkey, who was in the US Navy, was disarmed by members of the congregation.

SDPD Lt. Christian Sharp told the channel: ‘Because of some quick-thinking parishioners here at the scene she was quickly subdued before anything really bad could happen.’

No shots were fired and police confirmed the gun was not loaded.

Wisen said: ‘God divinely protected everyone and then we were able to get the gun away and the baby away and the police came and we were all good.’

Conkey was schedeled to appear in court on Wednesday.
