Solskjaer says Liverpool game is ‘perfect’ for crisis-hit Man Utd… but fans reckon it will get him sacked
OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has claimed that Manchester United’s next game against Liverpool is coming at the perfect time for the crisis-hit club…but fans reckon it will get him sacked.
The Norwegian took over from predecessor Jose Mourinho, who was given the boot after his Red Devils side fell to a 3-1 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s Reds last December.
And fans have predicted Solskjaer’s time will also run out after the clash with their old rivals, with the hashtag ‘OleOut’ trending on Twitter after their latest defeat at Newcastle.
One said: “When we lose to Liverpool we’ll be in the bottom 3 going into the end of October”.
Another replied: “Mourinho got the sack after a defeat to Liverpool. It’s happening lads.”
A third added: “Jose Mourinho lost his job after losing to Liverpool. Next Liverpool vs Manchester United. Over to you Ole. Keep the tradition going.”
“I presume the top brass will wait till Liverpool smack us 4-0 before getting rid of another manager,” a fourth tweeted.
Newcastle midfielder Matty Longstaff netted on his Premier League debut to condemn United to their fifth straight fixture without a victory.
The result leaves the Red Devils just two points above the relegation zone when they face Liverpool who are on a 17 game winning streak.

Despite this, Solskjaer claimed that the clash is the ideal match for his side at Old Trafford after the international break.
He said: “The Liverpool game next is the perfect one for us.
“Luckily for us it’s now the international break. We get time to evaluate what’s gone on over these eight games.
“We will sit down, hopefully we’ll get a few players back. It’s my responsibility. I need to sort their heads out. Young boys lacking confidence – they need some help from experienced players and staff.
“They’re human and they want to do well. They need to see the results of their hard work and we’re not getting those results so that’s going to affect them.
“It will take however long it will have to take. It’s a journey we’ve started on and the culture is getting there.

“I can’t give you any time but we’re getting there. We’ve given ourselves a big, big uphill challenge to get among the top four but it’s tight and we need to get a run together.
