Video: Former Spurs director claims lack of signings is down to Pochettino and not Levy
Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a terrible start to the new season just months after making it to the Champions League final.
Spurs were beaten by Liverpool in the European showpiece on Madrid in June, with the Reds having experienced the agony of a loss in the final just twelve months prior.
Liverpool bolstered their squad with some clever additions including Virgil van Dijk who has helped to transform their fortunes at the back.
Despite breaking the club’s transfer record in the summer with the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele, the club failed to bring in other quality additions.
Right-back Kieran Trippier and striker Fernando Llorente both departed the club, but in both cases no replacements were brought in.
Former Spurs director Paul Kelmsley has thrown his support behind chairman Daniel Levy by claiming he has done an amazing job with the club in the best place it has ever been.
Kelmsley has suggested that Levy will not panic and will support Mauricio Pochettino despite the poor run of form but does admit that there appears to be issues which need to be sorted by the manager.
Most remarkably, Kelmsley claimed that the lack of recruitment of new players is not Levy’s fault and instead suggested it was down to who Pochettino wanted and could not get.
“Daniel’s done an amazing job. The club is in the best place it’s ever been.”
“He’s not going to panic. He’s going to support the manager.” ????
“I haven’t seen anything to suggest that he’ll slip out the exit.”
