Report: Tottenham offered Ballon d’Or winner in exchange for Eriksen
One of the main talking points to emerge from Tottenham’s poor start to the season is the fact that the club haven’t managed to sell the players who don’t wish to be there.
Chief among those is midfielder Christian Eriksen who made no secret of his desire to seek a new challenge in the summer (Ekstra Bladet).
However, a move away from the club didn’t materialise for the Dane in the summer and with his contract with Spurs running out at the end of the current season, the club could lose him for nothing if they don’t sell him in the January transfer window.
According to Spanish publication eldesmarque, Spurs have been offered a chance to let the 27-year-old leave in January as Spanish giants Real Madrid are willing to swap former Spurs midfielder Luka Modric for Eriksen.
The report claims that Madrid are keen to strengthen their squad in January after making a poor start to the season and have identified Eriksen as one of their primary targets.
It is suggested that Los Blancos see January as their last chance to sign a replacement for 34-year-old Modric without losing money in the exchange.

Eriksen has been extremely poor in the games that he has played and so far there is no sign of any improvement. If he is going to continue putting in the same standard of performance, then the club will be better off letting him leave in January. However, it is unlikely that Levy will sanction this swap deal given Modric’s age but I still believe the Croat can do a job for us for a year or two.
