Friends Book Sale

The Friends of the Milpitas Library will host a special one-day book sale on Nov. 2. The sale, which will run 10 a.m.-4 p.m., will feature a collection of coffee table books at bargain prices.  Money raised from Friends’ sales supports library programs and other library projects.

Electing to change

The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters has released an amended draft Election Administration Plan, which outlines how the Voter’s Choice Act will be implemented beginning with the 2020 presidential elections.

The amended plan is the product of a series of community meetings and public hearings to collect input on how the new voting model can best serve Santa Clara County voters. The document has been translated into eight languages based on the population of Santa Clara County: Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Khmer, Korean, Hindi and Japanese. All versions can be downloaded and are posted online at sccvote.org/voterschoice, where residents can also leave comments and feedback about the plan.

The Election Administration Plan outlines how the election process will change and contains information about the operation of the new Vote Centers that will replace traditional polling places. It also outlines details about the vote-by-mail process, through which all voters will receive a mail-in ballot as well as ballot drop-box options.
