Shang-Chi and The Ten Rings Movie Gets a Working Title
The working title for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been revealed. Shang-Chi may be a lesser-known hero compared to the likes of Spider-Man or Captain America, but the character has been around since 1973. Shang-Chi has been a part of multiple comic storylines over the years, but hasn't been featured in a lot of other media. However, Shang-Chi will soon be making his grand entrance to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Shang-Chi has been in development since late last year, but fans have gotten many more updates on the project this year. Back in March, Destin Daniel Cretton was given the job of directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Apart from the film's official title and release date, Marvel also revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that Simu Liu had been cast as Shang-Chi and that he would go up against the REAL Mandarin in his first solo movie. Now, the working title for the film has also been disclosed.
According to HN Entertainment, the working title for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be Steamboat. The title Steamboat doesn't reveal anything about the film, with most working titles mainly being used to prevent people from disrupting production when they are shooting on location.
While Shang-Chi will be joining the MCU in a few years, he isn't the only new character coming to the big screen. At San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that Mahershala Ali had been cast as Blade and also that the superhero teams X-Men and the Fantastic Four would both be added to the MCU in the near future. Marvel fans got even more announcements at D23, with it being announced that Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk would all be getting TV shows on Disney+.
Even though there are some highly-anticipated sequels coming up in the MCU, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will attract big crowds who have been waiting for the character to get a live-action movie. Production for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is expected to start in November, with Australia being one of their shooting locations. A working title is necessary to keep fans away from shooting locations, but hardcore Marvel fans will still find a way to witness on-location shoots. That being said, everybody else might not look twice at people filming a movie called Steamboat.
