[Women's Soccer] Women's soccer drops regular-season finale to Brenau
GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Montreat College women's soccer dropped an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup 3-2 to Brenau University Saturday evening in the squad's regular-season finale. The Cavs finished the regular season 8-8 overall, 5-8 in conference play, one more AAC win than last year and the most in a season since 2013.
The game proved to be a back-and-forth battle as the Tigers opened the scoring at 9:23, but Kaitlyn Adams netted the equalizer for the Cavaliers less than five minutes later at the 13:29 mark.
Brenau retook the lead just a few seconds later, but once again, the Cavs quickly tied it back up. This time, it was Isabel Aguilar with her third goal in two games at the 18:23 mark. The match entered halftime with Montreat and Brenau tied up at two each.
Brenau broke the stalemate less than five minutes into the second half with what would end up being the game-winner as Montreat couldn't answer back.
Aguilar notched three of Montreat six goals, all of them reaching the target. Goalkeeper Keiragan Wall made 11 saves in net for her team.
