Danny Rose praises Tottenham teenager after recent display
Danny Rose praised Ryan Sessegnon following his display against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
The 19-year-old started his first game as a Spurs player, and Champions League debut, scoring once in the 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich.
The summer signing has struggled to kickstart his career at Tottenham since his £25 million move to the Premier League side in August (BBC).
A hamstring injury suffered during the summer whilst on international duty for the England Under-21 side forced Sessegnon to have to bide his time and had only made three substitute appearances befofe the trip to Munich (Transfermarkt).
With a place in the Champions League round of 16 already secured, Jose Mourinho decided to give youth a chance against the German giants.
Giovani Lo Celso, Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth, along with Sessegnon, were brought into a young and inexperienced side.
Within 20 minutes of his debut, Sessegnon smashed home a half-volley past Manuel Neuer after the ball fell kindly to the winger.
But Bayern Munich took control against a much-changed Spurs side, scoring twice after Spurs levelled, and which saw them make it six wins out of six in Group B.
Despite the loss, Danny Rose was quick to praise his fellow teammate on his display against the Bundesliga side.
Speaking to Evening Standard after the game (10/12/19) he said: “His goal was a brilliant finish and he helped me out defending as well. He was so unselfish. He’s a big threat attacking as well. I’m over the moon for him and I hope that’s the first of many for Ryan.”
“I hope there isn’t a lot of pressure on him. He’s so down to earth, he’s so quiet and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do for us in the coming years.”

I was pleased, similar to everyone, to see Ryan Sessegnon starting in Munich. He caused plenty of problems for Pavard in the first half and took his goal very well. After just making his first start, Sessegnon should be slowly integrated into the side. He will face a very tough task to overtake Lucas Moura and Heung Min-Son at the moment.
