Mourinho speaks on Luis Campos potentially joining him at Spurs
Lille sporting director Luis Campos has been linked heavily with Tottenham since the club replaced Mauricio Pochettino with Jose Mourinho at the helm last month.
However, Mourinho has now played down the rumours and suggested that any potential deal is not up to him.
With Tottenham having already having plundered Lille for assistant Joao Sacramento and goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos, the Daily Mail reports that there is now a growing feeling that Campos will leave the Ligue 1 club at the end of the season to join the Champions League finalists.
The 55-year-old is a close friend of his compatriot Mourinho, with the pair having worked together at Real Madrid previously.
Campos is one of the most sought after men in football, having discovered and helped launch the careers of players like Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho, Bernardo Silva, Thomas Lemar, Anthony Martial and Nicolas Pepe during his time at Monaco (Bleacher Report).
Mourinho played down the rumours of Campos’ imminent move to Spurs and suggested that he is happy with the club’s structure.
The Daily Mail quotes the Spurs head coach as saying: “Luis Campos is a big friend of mine. Luis Campos worked with me at Real Madrid. Luis Campos is doing his great career with Monaco and Lille. And that’s it.
“I work at Tottenham with the structure that the club wants me to work.”

If we somehow manage to pull this one off, it will be a better signing than any player that we can potentially bring in. With the club’s model relying on bringing in and developing good young players, Campos expertise on the French market will give Spurs the edge in the transfer market.
