Mum creates ‘jail’ for toys her kids don’t clear away – and parents love the idea

PARENTS are loving a ‘toy jail’ one mum created after she got sick of tidying up after her kids.

Any parent will know the annoyance of having gadgets and games strewn all over the floor – particularly when you tread on a piece of Lego.

In a bid to get her children to pick up after themselves, one woman created a ‘toy jail’ from a storage box she had to hand.

Whenever her youngsters leave anything out for her to pick up, she pops it inside and makes them do a chore to get it back.

She wrote the rules on the box in the form of a rhyme.

It says: “You left it out and I picked it up.

'Toy jail' rules

You left it out and I picked it up

I’ve got your stuff you’re out of luck

To get it back, please do a chore

Then it’s yours, just like before

“I’ve got your stuff you’re out of luck.

“To get it back, please do a chore.

“Then it’s yours, just like before.”

A snap of the creation was shared to Facebook group Innov8 My Home, where a fellow parent raved about the idea.

They said: “TOY JAIL!

“While sitting on the floor, picking the toys of my youngest son. Picking those kinetic sand scattered.

This is a very important lesson they should learn

“I was thinking, I better use one of my empty container for all his toys. That’s my next move!

“Timely. I saw this. Hahaha what a great idea!

“Teaching kids to be more responsible and organize with their things. This is a very important lesson they should learn.”

The post has racked up dozens of likes, as mums declared they were setting up their own jail.

Parents have said they’re going to try this in their own home

One person said: “I love this. It’s a great idea.”

Another wrote: “I’m going to do this to my 12&16 yr old! This is going to be fun!”

A third said: “Great idea.”

This mum commented: “So going to try this.”

While a fellow parent added: “I’m starting this today.”

Plus savvy parents are swearing by the ‘four-gift rule’ this Christmas which saves them time and money.

And parents reckon these £2.99 B&M plates are the quickest way to get fussy kids to finish their meals.

Meanwhile this crafty mum created a teepee Christmas tree which you can crawl inside.
