Vladimir Tsyplakov, a top Belarusian player, has died at the age of 50.
Vladimir Tsyplakov won the Junior World Championships in the Soviet Union in 1989. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Tsyplakov represented Belarus at the 1998 and 2002 Olympic Games and at four top-level World Championships. He was selected as the best hockey player in Belarus three times, in 1992, 2000 and 2002.
After playing in the Farm League for years, Tsyplakov reached the NHL in the 1995-96 Los Angeles Kings. In the NHL, Tsyplakov played a total of 331 regular season games, representing the Kings in addition to the Buffalo Sabers. He played his last NHL match in 2001.
In the final stages of his career he played in Ak Bars Kazan in Russia and TsSKA in Moscow and in his home country Junost Minsk.
Enjoyed watching him play for the Kings, sad to hear that he has passed far too soon. RIP.
