An uncanny strain of irony practically fogs the glass of the first installment of a new Contemporary Jewish Museum exhibition series: In That Case:
The focus is on absence: an ill-omened show on an English estate conceived by a doggedly obscure fin de siècle art group called Das Beben (the Tremor).
Taking a cue from the series’ inspiration, the Jewish tradition of havruta, or the study of religious texts by pairs of scholars, Bay Area artist Anthony Discenza teamed with New York writer Peter Straub on the project.
