Bachelorette Angie Kent Explains Split From Carlin Sterritt: "Our Values Didn't Align"

Angie Kent has given a little more insight into her breakup with 2019 Bachelorette winner Carlin Sterritt.

She told The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday: "Chemistry doesn't always equal compatibility. We gave it our all and it didn't work out.

She added that her and Carlin's "values didn't align", but said she would not be revealing any more about the inner workings of their relationship out of respect for her former partner.

"I wish him nothing but the best for the future."

On his Instagram Stories last night, Carlin thanked his fans for their support in the wake of the announcement of their split. "I had so much fear and anxiety about coming out with our breakup publicly. It was actually quite debilitating each day when I was holding onto that truth."

He explained that the couple had only recently decided to break up. "I just want everyone to know I'm really thankful for the hundreds of messages. Everyone is being so kind, if you can please extend that kindness to Angie as well."

Both Angie and Carlin revealed that they had broken up on their Instagram Stories on Wednesday afternoon, after weeks of speculation, with fans and media clocking on to the pair's seeming estrangement in early June.

"I'm sad to say that Carlin and I have broken up," Angie wrote, explaining while they had held off on sharing the news due to "bigger issues" in the world, she needed to finally end the rumours that they were no longer together.

She noted fans' investment in their relationship since seeing the pair fall for each other on The Bachelorette. "But this is real life and we both need privacy and time to heal.

"Please remember we are both human beings like everyone else, so be kind if you do choose to leave comments or messages," she said.

Carlin shared a series of videos confirming the news: "It is true that Angie and I have gone our separate ways. But, you know what, it's for the best for us individually."

He added that his poor mental health had impacted on the relationship, having revealed in May that he had been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety. "I just simply wasn't the best version of myself to be able to give the best version of me to Angie."

He concluded: "I want nothing but love and happiness for Angie."
