ASOS makes embarrassing spelling blunder on a bag – and blames it on a ‘Homer Simpson moment’
ASOS has been left red-faced after making a rather embarrassing spelling blunder on one of its bags.
The online retailer is selling a ‘be kind’ shopper bag on its website, but somehow failed to notice that there was a letter missing from the word ‘breathe’.
The natural-coloured accessory reads: “Be Kind To Yourself. SLEEP BREATH REFLECT REPEAT,” with an “e” missing.
However, despite the epic spelling mistake, the £6 tote bag is still ‘selling fast’ according to the ASOS website.
Shoppers took to Twitter once they spotted the blunder, with one person writing: “Think it’s meant to be ‘breathe’ and not ‘breath’. Imagine paying £6 on a canvas shopping bag that isn’t even correct.’
Another person posted: “Bought lots of your stuff over the years. Am I missing something re. this bag? Surely ‘breath’ should be ‘breathe’, right?”
A third person tweeted: “Is this meant to say breath or was it supposed to say breathe?” and this time ASOS actually replied.
“Thank you for pointing that out looks like one of our designers has had a Homer Simpson moment there. I will get this looked into,” they replied.
Of course, ASOS are referring to the main character from popular television series, The Simpsons, who is known for his “Doh!” moments.
It is an exclamation typically used after Homer injures himself, realises that he has done something stupid, or when something bad has happened or is about to happen to him.
The spelling faux pas comes just days after shoppers mocked a bikini for sale on ASOS – claiming it looked like a face mask.
The Fashion Union swimwear was shared on an Instagram page that is dedicated to hilarious ASOS finds and massive shopping fails.
With “asos what were u thinking” written in the page’s bio, it seems shoppers are completely baffled by the “skimpy” bikini with many mocking the unique design.

The account holder shared a snap of the awkward swimwear design and hilariously wrote: “Public service announcement: face masks do not work below the nose.”
Followers of the page were amused by the post which has racked up almost 1.5k likes and dozens of comments poking fun at the “Covid friendly” bikini.
