Report: Spurs’ hopes of landing defender may have just become trickier
Reports from China and South Korea appear to indicate that Tottenham Hotspur’s rumoured move for Kim Min-Jae will be far from straightforward this summer.
Kim, who is nicknamed ‘the monster’ for his strength and aggressiveness is widely considered to be one of the best defenders in the Chinese Super League.
Tottenham are reportedly leading the race for the 23-year-old who was also said to be attracting interest from RB Leipzig, Lazio, Porto, PSV Eindhoven, Southampton, and Inter Milan (Titan Sports via Xinhua News Agency).
However, Chinese news outlet Sina, now reveals that the central defender has obtained a new visa, which makes it more likely that he will stay put at Beijing Guoan.
The report claims that the Chinese Super League club initially planned to sell Kim this summer, but the global pandemic has made them reconsider.
It is claimed that the club will now only sell Kim if they receive a big offer.
Meanwhile, MK in South Korea reports that Guon want around €15million (£13.5million) for the defender and there have not been any offers worth more than €10million (£9million) to date.

This deal would not just appeal to the club because of what Kim can do on the pitch but it is clear that the commercial considerations are also important, particularly at a time when Spurs are struggling financially.
I do not think the club will look at a potential £13.5million outlay as massive considering they would expect to make most of that money back through shirt sales back in South Korea.
