COVID-19 outbreak reported at Ohio long-term living facility
MEIGS COUNTY, OH (WOWK) – An outbreak has been reported at a Meigs County long-term living facility, with nine confirmed and three probable cases of COVID-19.
The Meigs County Health Department reports a total of 10 confirmed and three probable cases of the virus throughout the county as a whole.
Today’s numbers include 12 residents and staff from Overbrook Rehabilitation Center. Health officials say these cases appear to be concentrated on one area of the facility.
According to a Facebook post, Overbrook officials say the outbreak has been contained to one hallway at this time. Facility staff currently work to manage the spread of the virus.
“We currently have six active infections among employees and 10 among residents,” the post says. “Affected employees have been removed from the schedule during their quarantine period. All residents are being monitored closely for changes in condition. Overbrook is halting all new admissions at this time.”
Overbrook employees will be tested again on Aug. 13.
