Iwakuma can't get out of 6th, Mariners lose to Diamondbacks
SEATTLE (AP) — Hisashi Iwakuma pitched well for five innings, then couldn't get out of the sixth.
Iwakuma was tagged for six runs, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Seattle Mariners 8-4 on Tuesday night for their fourth consecutive victory.
Iwakuma (2-2), who allowed 10 hits in 5 2-3 innings, was done in by a three-run sixth when the Diamondbacks bunched five hits to open a 6-1 lead.
"The umpire was tight from the get-go, so I wasn't worried about that. I knew what I was going to get, that wasn't the issue," Iwakuma said through a translator. "The issue was giving up the two hits back-to-back and being in that situation wasn't a good scenario for me. I wanted to get out of that jam, but I couldn't.
